Last Weekend July 22-25

July 22 - Starkey @ The Tube

Fucking hella sick... Starkey throws down everytime. BIG BIG BIG set very very VERY small venue. The Tube is only open like once or twice and week and is very small but everyone in there usually knows each other and is very chill. Gemmy showed up with his lady friend and Joker with his fiance. Both of them just chillin in the club checking out some good beats. Chatted with both of them a little bit very nice guys very genuine. A few of the regulars there is Superisk http://www.myspace.com/superiskninthentity who is a sick who spun after Starkey. And the owner of http://www.donutsthestore.co.uk/ a sick ass clothing company located in Bristol. Mostly sell T's check it Pat. Very Sick night.

July 23 - Corsica Studios

Best show of them all. Got there and Chef was on the decks spinning vinyl. Sound system was very fucking heavy. Probably a room maybe a little bigger than the size of Merced house's living room with a massive BASS system. There was probably only 40-50 people in there at one time. After 1 probably only 20. The venue really didn't fill out very much which I really enjoyed. Kristen and Sam counted one time and there was only 7 girls. Pretty rediculous.

Mala set was fucking sick. Brought the vinyl out and was on his mixing very very good stuff from him. All sorts of tracks I had never heard and probably wont hear again for a while. Silkie's set was fucking banging. Silkie is a boss. Dropped new shit and new Mizz Beats tracks that were fucking awesome too. They are getting better and better and the production value and melodies they bring to the table is fucking amazing. Quest's set was fucking great. I had never seen him before he had a sound semi-close to Silkie's with his own fresh take on dub. He was dropping all sorts of tracks I have never heard and was definitely a huge addition to this party. After Quests set all awesomeness broke loose and Sgt. Pokes announced it was Mala's birthday. Mala played a sick little Birthday set and was having fun getting drunk and playing sick beats. Then Jay Five stepped up as well as Quest and Silkie. It basically turned into Mala b2b Quest b2b Silkie b2b Jay Five. FUCKING sick. There was no way we were leaving this party till they kicked us out. Check out some photos.

July 24 - Fabric

Fabric was sick. A bit hellish getting there because we missed the train. But it was a very sick night. Fabric has a lot of youngsters and people there to be at the scene, but we loved the music. Starkey was fucking going off. Got a really sick video than I plan on uploading to youtube very soon. Drop The Lime was Kristen and Sams favorite he was dropping some real hard tracks and seemed to have a heavy techno influence so it was a bit faster and very dance-able tracks. We also the legend Goldie who was throwing down in the ever so heavy DnB room. Very sick evening. Fabric is always a very late night.

REWWWWWWINDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

July 25 - El-B and Joker @ Deadly Rhythm

This was pimpin pimpin. Except that it was in like a bar turned nightclub. The room was not set up very well for sound and the system was pretty small. El-B is like the King of Garage and was really sick. He started with garage and the MC changed it with "Ok ya'll ready to hear some real dubsteppp?" and he started playing some really sick dubstep tracks getting the party started. Fucking good to finally see him live because he is a godfather of dubstep. Joker came on a little late sporting purple of course. He set up his shit and was off. He had a really awesome mixing style to compliment his really awesome set of sounds. He mixed really quickly but brought in the heart of the track melodically and intelligently. He has some real good DJ skills to match his production skills. He was playing all sorts of really good tracks and some new ones that I recorded that I have been searching for like crazy. Got some cool videos to upload will put those on youtube soon as well. In this pic El-B is on the left and Joker in purps.

  4. Fuckkin Sick Man. FWD>>>>>>>>>>

I can't even imagine how seeing these cats in their home environment would be. In LA there is definitely a different vibe. Nice work schmoozin your way to meeting these motherfuckers. That'll be good for when Big A drops his first EP and needs a hand gettin it out there.

Small venues are almost always doper shows. Mad jealous here in southern california.
